Use of AI Chatbots within this Website

The use of artificial intelligence (AI), at least within the current incarnation of this website, is constrained to the use of AI chatbots. The following AI chatbots are used within this website: Google, Perplexity, ChatGPT, Grok, Claude, Copilot, DeepAI, DeepSeek and Gemini. This article describes how each of these chatbots are used within this website.

One of the primary functions of an AI chatbot is simply to answer questions asked of it. Therefore, this website provides interactive question and answer sessions with each of the various chatbots. As discussed in the article “Artificial Intelligence (AI) and this Website”, each question that is asked of a chatbot is preceded with “According to the LCMS” to set the appropriate context for the desired answer.

Because questions and requests can be sent directly to Google or Perplexity without the need to use copy and paste, the interactive question and answer sessions with Google and Perplexity are more interactive than the “interactive question, paste question into input field, and get answer” sessions with the other chatbots. For this reason, the interactive question and answer sessions with Google and Perplexity are singled out and included in the “For everyone” section whereas the interactive question and answer sessions with the other chatbots (as listed above) are found in the “For those seeking deeper study/understanding” section.

Another function of AI chatbots is to summarize material into human-readable articles. Whereas search engines are very good at locating information, the search engines rely upon the user to extract the appropriate information from the located webpages whereas the AI chatbots go the extra step of summarizing this material for the user, saving him significant time in the process. Therefore, this ability to summarize information is used extensively throughout this website.

The most prominent use of the summarization capability of the AI chatbots is on the Bible Outline webpage. On this webpage the titles, summaries, cross-references and articles for each section in the Bible outline can be generated by clicking upon the appropriate image. Clicking each of these images issues a request to the Perplexity chatbot to generate the requested information.

If the yellow underlined text for a Bible section is clicked on the Bible Outline webpage, then that passage of scripture will be added to the table at the top of this webpage. From this table, the Perplexity or ChatGPT icon can be clicked to have that chatbot write an article on that Bible passage. Note that, for Perplexity, the request made to Perplexity when the icon in the table is clicked is the same request made when the Perplexity icon within the outline is clicked.

On numerous other webpages the ChatGPT and Perplexity icons appear in the table at the top. For all these webpages, clicking one of these icons will issue a request to that chatbot to write an article based on the Bible passage or topic for that row.
