The Bible Hangman game is based on the Hangman word game. The intent of the game is to figure out the word shown with the underbars before the stick man is hung. The letters of the alphabet are shown below the underbars and clicking one of these letters will check whether that letter is contained within the word. If the letter is used in the word, for all instances of it within the word, the underbar will be replaced with that letter. If that letter is not in the word, then another body part will be added to the gallows for the hangman. There are ten body parts for the hangman (head, body, two arms, two legs, two eyes, nose and mouth) so nine wrong letter guesses can be made before the hangman is "hung". If all the letters for the word are filled in before the ten misses, then the player "wins" the game. If not the player "loses".

Before starting the game, the categories from which the word will be selected should be chosen. This is done by checking the boxes for those categories. After all the desired categories have been checked, the "New game" button should be clicked to trigger a new word.

The following screenshot displays the webpage with all the categories selected followed by the selection of "New game". Note that the initial display always shows the five letters for FAITH.

When letters are clicked, those letters are either shown as part of the word or added as body parts to the hangman. Therefore, after guessing the five vowels, the screen may look like the following:

After three incorrect guesses (C, R, S) resulting in three additional body parts added to the hanging stick figure, four correct guesses (H, M, T, W) resulted in the word "MATTHEW".

If all the letters for the word are correctly guessed before ten misses, then a "Congratulations" message appears. If ten incorrect guesses occur before all the letters are identified, then a "You lose" message appears. In either case, and this is the "learning" part of this game, an image () will appear that, when clicked, will display another page with information about the word. For example, when this image is clicked for the word "MATTHEW", the following page is displayed.

Note that there are two versions of "Bible Hangman", one under the "easier" Bible games and one under the "harder" Bible games. The difference between the two is that the words for the harder version tend to be harder than the words for the easier version.
