Symbol Match Help
The "Symbol Match" game is similar to the old Concentration game in that the purpose of the game is to match symbols. Each symbol used in shown twice within the game so the challenge is to match the two occurrences.
The game can be played in either single-player or two-player mode. In single-player mode, the goal is to match all the symbols with the fewest number of misses. In two-player mode, the goal is to make more matches than your opponent.
The symbols shown in this game are the symbols used throughout the web site. Whenever a square is chosen, information about that symbol will appear below the squares. After that information, the symbol selected will be shown. Clicking that symbol will display the webpage corresponding to that symbol. This is the "learning" part of this game.
For example, the following screenshot shows the easier version of the game when squares 1 and 2 are selected. Note that square 1 contains the YouTube symbol and square 2 contains the non-matching Twitter/X symbol. Since the two don't match, the number of wrong guesses is bumped by one. Also note that the description below the squares contains information for the most recent selection (square 2). Clicking the image after this description displays a new window with the home page corresponding to that symbol.
Whenever the two selected squares don't match, the "Next guess" button should be clicked. When this happens in two-player mode, control is passed to the other player. If the two squares contain the same symbol, then those squares will be removed and the same player (in two-player mode) should continue guessing. Control should only be passed to the other player on misses.
Each game is over when all the symbols are matched. At that time, the number of misses (wrong guesses) can be used to determine how "good" a job of matching the symbols was done in single-player mode. Alternatively, the number of matched symbols for the two players can be used to determine which player matched the most symbols.
Clicking the underlined text for "New game/single player" will start a new single-player game. Likewise, clicking the text for "New game/two players" will start a new two-player game.
The easier version of the "Symbol Match" game has three rows of six squares (eighteen squares, nine symbols) whereas the harder version of the "Symbol Match" game has five rows of six squares (thirty squares, fifteen symbols).
