Books of the Bible Help
The "Books of the Bible" game tests the player's knowledge of the 66 books in the Bible. This game has many variations with the simplest ones available via the "easier" Bible games and the more challenging ones only available via the "harder" Bible games.
The simplest version of this game is to identify the books of the Bible in order starting with Genesis and ending with Revelation. While this version of the game is available under both the "easier" and "harder" Bible games, the "easier" version defaults to showing the 66 books in alphabetical order (making it much easier to locate a specific book) whereas the "harder" version shows the books in random order.>
The simplest version of this game is chosen by selecting "In order" from the dropdown list followed by clicking the "New game" button. This results in the following display. Note that the "Alphabetize book names" is checked and that the 66 books of the Bible are shown in alphabetical order (left-to-right, top-to-botton)
The corresponding "harder" version of the "In order" game displays the 66 books in random order. Note that, in the following screenshot, the "Alphabetize book names" is not checked and, therefore, the 66 book names are randomly ordered.
Note that the text above the 66 books identifies the next book to be clicked. For the "In order" game, this starts with "First book of the Bible" and proceeds with "Book after ...". When a book is correctly identified, it is removed from the table. The game is completed when the table is empty. For the "In order" game, this occurs when the last book of the Bible, Revelation, is identified. The following screenshot shows the easy version of the "In order" game after all the books through 2 Chronicles have been identified.
The intent of the game is to identify all the books with the fewest mistakes (zero is the goal) in the shortest time frame. When the last book is identified, the total time to identify all the books will be shown.
Whenever a wrong book is identified, the number of mistakes will be bumped by one. Likewise, clicking the Help button, which will identify the appropriate Bible book, will also bump the number of mistakes by one..
In addition to the "In order" version, the "easier" version of this game also has the "After" game. This is somewhat harder than the "In order" version in that the prompt above the 66 books that identifies which book should be selected next will do so in a random fashion. For example, the following screenshot shows the "After" game with the first prompt being for the "Book after Matthew" (as opposed to the "First book of the Bible"). As for the "In order" game, the harder version of the "After" game shows the 66 books in random order.
More challenging versions of this game are only available through the "harder" Bible games. One of these versions is the "In reverse order" game in which the books of the Bible are to be identified in reverse order (starting with Revelation and ending with Genesis).
Just as the "In order" has a corresponding "After" game, the "In reverse order" has a "Before" game which, because the books to be identified are randomly selected, makes the game even more challenging. For example, the following screenshot shows a "Before" game starting with the "Book before Amos".
For a different kind of challenge, the "Unscramble" game can be played. This will present the books of the Bible in random order with the letters of book scrambled. To avoid giving away the first letter of the scrambled book name, all the letters are capitalized. The following screenshot shows the "Unscramble" game starting with "Philemon" scrambled.
For the ultimate in complexity, any of the previous versions can be played with all 66 book names scrambled (by checking the "Scramble book names"). The following screenshot shows the "Before" game with the option to scramble the 66 books of the Bible.
The book before Matthew, Malachi, is found in the third column, eighth row. The final version of the "Books of the Bible" game is the "Number of chapters" version. In this game, the player will be prompted to identify the number of chapters in the various books of the Bible (again asked in random order).
